Ceiling Soundproofing Solutions by Buildmatic – To effectively soundproof a ceiling, it’s essential to isolate the soundproofing layers from the existing ceiling structure. Without this separation, impact noise—such as footsteps, moving furniture, or dropped objects—can travel directly through the floor above and into the ceiling below.

Our approach incorporates resilient mounting systems that allow the ceiling to flex and absorb vibrations, much like a car’s suspension smooths out bumps in the road. This significantly reduces the transmission of both impact and airborne sound.

We enhance this further by adding high-mass layers—carefully selected to target different sound frequencies—for maximum acoustic blocking performance. For timber joist ceilings, we also fill the cavity between the floor above and the ceiling with acoustic mineral wool, preventing sound from amplifying within the void and improving overall sound attenuation.
